Cybertrace has been notified of a new Facebook scam.
The Facebook scammers gain control of a single user’s Facebook profile, then post the following and tag the person’s friends:
Sad News!! If you have family or neighbors in the city, you should check the list of victims. The drama has claimed many lives and the police are looking for the families of the victims.
There is a link in the post and it’s likely that, once it’s clicked, it redirects to a page which asks you to re-login to Facebook. But instead of logging into Facebook, you’ve just unknowingly shared your login details with the Facebook scammers. Then the Facebook scammers will post the same content, tag all of your friends and the cycle carries on.
This is a scam and you should not click on the link!

Where can I report this post to an authority other than Facebook – I know of a victim who is having a great deal of trouble getting their Facebook and email back after giving details to this scam? Also why does Facebook not automatically remove or flag this given that it is a known scam.
